Amy Sharp ’19
It is truly an honor to stand up here today and receive this outstanding honor on behalf of the student body. I remember the first time the class of 1969 emailed me with their proposition to partner with the class of ’19 and build a spirit plaza on campus, I truly thought it was simply too good to be true. In fact, I didn’t respond to the first couple of emails. A partnership between the class of 2019 and the class of 1969 where we would get to beautify campus and pay tribute to some of our most venerated traditions, and they weren’t asking us for money? Simply too good to be true. And fast forward, here we are, almost two years later and I’m humbled by the outstanding commitment the class of 1969 has had toward our beloved university and our traditions. The work the class of ’69 has done to bring this project to fruition is an example that all students can learn from and will certainly benefit from for many years to come. Thank you for the opportunity to receive this dedication on behalf of the class of 2019 and the entire student body. We will be stewards of this spirit plaza until the time comes to pass the torch to the class of 2069, which I’m told will feel like a blink. Thanks, Gig ‘Em, and God Bless Texas A&M.
